If Yan can cook, then so can you!
-
Racheal Ray, she actually cooks REAL food you can cook at home & its good.
-
Julia Childs. :-) I'd say Jeff Smith from the Frugal Gourmet, but he ended up being a child molester. Yan Can Cook is a great show, too. Gotta love PBS.
-
I like Alton Brown - his Good Eats show provides the science of the food so you know why certain ingredients are necessary and what they do (like bond fat cells and stuff like that) http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_ea/0,1976,FOOD_9956,00.html

Rachael Ray without a doubt. I have some of her cook books and I love all of her recipes. They are delicious, easy, and fast. She really loves food and know what tastes good together. I love her food. She also makes her recipes so that they can be adapted to what ever you have on hand. She has made me a better cook, what more can you ask from a T.V. chef.

Anthony Bourdain. Although I'll admit, not only do I say this because of his exceptional cooking skills but because I think he's a hottie. Sue me.

Jacques Pépin

Julia Child - without her influence, I don't think we would have ever had the interest in a Food TV Network. :-)

Easy- Ferran Adrià of El Bulli He has led the way for many years and El Bulli has been voted Best Restaurant 3 times, including the last two years. No one seems to work so hard and delighting and thrilling diners. Usually whatever he has been working on in his test kitchen ends up in restaurants worldwide 3-5 years later; By that time his is at another completely different level again. His books of his work are awesome to read.
-

Daniel Boulud would have to be my answer. Julia Child as the chef who inspired the most people to see cooking as something beyond a necessity. To the folks saying Ray Ray and Gordon Ramsay, they are new chefs who learned or drew from these two...trust me!
