  • My dream has always been to live in a community, out in the middle of nowhere, where the population is 1. So it's safe to say a small community is the preference on this end.
  • The smaller the better
  • I've the best of both worlds. My front door takes me to the city my back door to the country :)
  • i believe that there is bonuses to both. i love the rush and adreneline that comes with the city, and having everything you need within walking distance. but i also love the calm serenity that comes with a community. you have your neighbors, but you also have yourself....i think they are both great, and can personally take only a little bit of it at a time.
  • Small and I currently am living in a small community. Has about 5,600 people now days. +5
  • Small community, and maybe one day I will. :-)
  • Big city. They have a way of disempowering small minded gossipmongers.
  • I sorta got *both* right now! ;-)
  • Small community next to a big city. I hate large crowds of people...but I like a variety of things to do and places to shop and restaurants to eat in.
  • smaller is better
  • I lived the city life for the past 15 years or so ... It was OK for awhile as I had business there which was easier to manage ... But being a country boy at heart I felt the constant urge to get back to the trees and mountains to escape the stress and anxiety which comes with hustle and bustle. I know live 60 mins from the city in a smaller town situated within a mountain valley and beautiful wine region, the people will stop and say helo with a smile and the air is clean. I should have made the move 20 years ago. Do it if you are able ... plant and grow something to survive, micro farming is on the increase as good clean food and water become scarce ... eitherway, you will not regret it. Goodluck! ;))
  • I live in a small town now, but may retire to a larger city.
  • I like the big city because there's more to do.
  • I prefer small. The town that I live in, has only 300 people and is surrounded by ranches and wilderness. Regular visitors to my yard are owls, hawks and smaller birds of all kinds. Deer, fox, raccoon, skunks, and squirrels are also regular visitors. Bear and cougars have been known to pop in too but less often. Coyotes, crickets and frogs sing me to sleep at night. On top of that the people here are all friendly and wave as you pass them on the country roads, even if they don't know you. They say hello when walking on the street in town. Yes I did say the street, because there is only 1 main street through the town. No stop lights and the town closes up at 6pm every night. No fast food, 1 post office, 1 grocery store, 1 gas station and that's it. At night around 9-10pm, the traffic on the main street through town, dies down and by midnight there is hardly a car that passes by, so besides the animals and insect sounds it is utter quiet. I have also lived for a short period in the San Francisco area, rode B.A.R.T., into the city everyday, to work and while it was a fun experience, I did not enjoy the city at all. I found city people to be unfriendly and the unnatural environment wasn't my cup of tea. I find country people, to be much more real, down to earth and they seem to have a better grip on what life is all about.
