The last case I knew about was between roommates.

As sexist as it sounds, most people think Man harming a Woman
-
I first think of a man harming a woman and children, but then I'm quickly reminded it can be the other way around. I think this is because there is more media focus on men harming woman, but women harming men is a silent crime. Then, also, we can't ignore the violence that can occur in gay and lesbian relationships. Anyone of any sex or sexuality is capable of being an abuser.

I tend to think of both men harming women, and women harming men. I think this is because I have known men who have been harmed by their female partners. Before I knew this, I would have thought instantly of men hurting women. The media focuses much more on this kind of domestic violence, and ignores the fact that many men are hurt by their wives. Often these men cannot go to the authorities or get help, as they will be laughed at, or just told to 'toughen up'. People need to realize that this kind of violence is a two way street.

Yes, I do think of a man hitting a woman. I grew up with a wife beating father. It is hard for me to think of anything else when I hear the term. I am aware that it can and does go both ways.
-
Statistically, the majority of it is done by men to women which is the first thing that comes to mind for me.

I think in most cases it takes 2 to tango. But sometimes... The woman is innocent and others the man is. It is a situation that statistically is caused by men, but not always.
