Dont know about that one, I had an Akita and she smelled just like any other big dog when she needed a bath.

Akitas shed a lot of hair and can smell as doggy if not more so than other breeds. We have two brothers. One doesn't smell, the other one smells incredibly doggy and sweaty. So I can vouch for the fact that they can smell doggy!

Generally speaking a clean dog of any breed doesn't have a "doggy" smell.
