Is it cooler to be an alcoholic or a non drinker?

A non-drinker is cooler, however, a moderate drinker is still considered cooler in our society. What a cold summer it has been here (MN), hasn't it?

it's cooler to drink but not be an alcoholic. i drink and honestly it makes me a much more fun person to be around. when you drink a little and get a strong buzz, your very talkitive while still able to stand up. but nobody likes hanging out with someone who's vomiting on a house plant.

Drinking in moderation, like everything else, is OK. Falling down drunk is just plain stupid.

Non Drinker. Alcoholics are not cool AT ALL. ...if anything I think a social drinker is fun...BUT ONLY if they can handle their liquer and know when enough is enough.

NO. To both. The whole concept of "cool" relies on what everyone else thinks about something. make up your own mind for a change.

I've known more cooler alcoholics than non-drinkers, who tend to be a bit straight-laced.

Who cares what's "cool" (whatever that really means). Not caring what's cool and doing Your own thing is cool.

I know cool people who are recovering alcoholics and cool people who have never tasted alcohol.

I don't know about "cooler". If you are not an alcoholic, moderate drinking is healthier for the heart than not drinking at all, especially if your choice is red wine. If you are an alcoholic you have to avoid the stuff altogether. Some people have bad experiences with relatives being drunks so they make a decision not to drink. That's fine. Whatever works for you. I think being honest is the coolest thing you can be and if that means you can't drink fine..if it means you can, that's fine too.
