Yes front passenger seat, i believe it comes from an old military term, the person not driving has the shot gun, therefore riding shotgun.

It either means you wish to ride in the front as a passenger or depending on where you live, that you'll marry her BEFORE the baby is due..this also generally means that if you don't you will probably be shot by her father and his brother or her father and her mother's brother. Either way, it's always the father and an uncle.
