    I believe the true conservative [read: true conservative not any particular political party] follows the: 'teach a man to fish' theory. The best interest of anyone is to be able to rely on yourself. If I am the captain of my ship, then you should be the captain of yours. I think people confuse that with self-interest when independence should be the real goal.
