  • Yes! That's why if I know I am going to be charged I make sure that I have cash on me to use instead.
  • I've never ran into this problem, what stores do this? I can guess some convenient stores might do this because they are shady establishments to start. But anytime I've been asked to use my pin at checkout the total is that of the purchase, nothing more. Wasn't there a crackdown a while back regarding overinflated ATM fees? Maybe they should be looked into once again. I don't doubt some places are trying to pass expenses down to the consumer that someone else should be paying.
  • When you know a store does that then use as a credit card. I remember one gas station that had a button on the pump for charge. If you did not press it you paid for the ATM transaction. If you pressed it then it went through as a charge with no fee.
  • My bank does NOT charge any ATM fees and IF I am charged an ATM fee from another bank or facility ; it is refunded by my bank ... so NO FEES for ME !!
  • I use my bank card as a CREDIT not a DEBIT and never get charged. Maybe you should try that and see if that works for you. Hope that helps :)
