Depends partly on the destination. For clarification, I live in the U.S. I don't like to fly unless time constraints require it. Overall, I prefer the train. You get lovely scenery you won't necessarily see by car, you get acquainted with all kinds of people (more than you would in a two-hour flight), and it's statistically safe. If you're traveling overnight, you have to go first class with your own sleeping accomodations. An overnight stay in coach class would leave me sleepy-eyed, cramped, and crabby.

It depends. If I was traveling across the country and had the time then it would be by train. If I want to relax and be pampered then it is a cruise. I would never travel by bus unless there was absolutely no other way.
