There is no doubt that cats can be trained. You have to start early with a reward system for each trick you teach it. the more complex the trick, the longer it will take to imprint the pattern. Also, be warned, cats can be blase about doing things over and over again. they are much more of individualists than dogs.

Don't listen to them. I think its a brilliant idea. I see no reason why you couldn't make scaled down versions of classic magic tricks like sawing a cat in half or the one when you put someone in a box and poke swords through it and they emerge unharmed. Good for you! I'm a carpenter by trade and if you could get the plans, I'm sure I could build you a cat sized version. I was actually was looking for such a thing when i came across your question on this website.
