I think that's a good point, and I would say that all stereotypes share certain characteristics: - They oversimplify (sacrificing detail for generality) - We tend to ignore the individual once we have committed them to a particular category (its just laziness, really) - The stereotypes are generally at least related to part of the truth at some level some of the time. - We can't really function without stereotypes. What is needed is greater awareness and commitment to dealing with each person as an individual.
