Yes, but so did Buddy Holly, John Lennon, Nat King Cole, etc. Elvis was only one, of many. +5

I know he changed people's opinions of music! And he changed the way tv could film certain celebrities who shook an unacceptable way!
-
No, but he was quite good all the same.

I have heard this, but I don't really think so. Despite what Lennon said about him and his influence on him, I think Elvis was really uniquely Elvis. The "Rockabilly" genre was already well on its way before Elvis came on the scene. He was influenced by it, but he did not begin it. Look to Carl Perkins and others for that. Rock and Roll as we know it was in full bloom when Elvis was still in the Army. Sort of "out of the loop". Elvis certainly had his influence, but not as much as is generally said.
-
Yes. He was a very powerful influence on the music of the mid-50's.

I think maybe he did. Until he came along most singers just stood there and sang. There was little movement and feeling. He changed that. There was a call for banning him from TV because of it, so it was something new.

he put a white face on black music ... he's still The King and all, but there's a reason his only Grammy award was for Gospel Music
