My husband and I own a business so all those papers are in a file cabinet in alphabetical order. I also have a daycare at home so I keep all my receipts in a portable file folder alphabetically. I keep all credit card statements with receipts, power bills, phone bills, tax receipts, etc for 7 years but the average person should only need this for a year or 2. Anything used for your taxes though, keep it with your return incase there is an audit. Here in Canada, we do not submit receipts with returns!
