Yup, go enjoy the spectacle and the horses and keep your money in your pocket unless you can afford to lose it. Horses are living beings. Sometimes they just have a bad day and don't feel like running. Sometimes they look great and have a bruised foot. Sometimes the owner ticked off the groom, who then pulled the water bucket overnight and put it back in front of a very thirsty horse just before race time. No horse can run with six gallons of water sloshing in their bellies. And before you say that would never happen, go look up the rap sheets on a few grooms. Some are honest and decent people, but for that hard, dangerous and dirty work for little pay, many are those who couldn't find any other work.
