CHILDREN OF MEN was at the top of my list for best film in 2006. Alfonso Cuaron did a marvelous job directing this anticipation movie. It's film like a war documentary, giving you the sense that you are following the characters everywhere they go. And the screenplay is full of surprises, it is impossible to know what's coming. Let's not forget the amazing cast and mostly the always excellent Clive Owen (what a good actor !!!). It just came out on DVD, go rent it !

I thought is was the best movie of 2006. There is a scene towards the end that lasts about 8 minutes and it is one continuous shot. Explosions going off, people getting shot, dialogue, everything. Blood splatters on the camera lense and it is not wiped off. You feel like you are there. The scene is absolutely intense. I had to catch my breath several times because I was holding it while I watched this scene. I can't say more or I will give it away. This is a movie you and your friends will talk about afterwards. Plan to get coffee.
