  • Yes. If anything, the typical hollywood depiction of hiding behind a car door to protect yourself from bullets is completely wrong. A rifle round (different velocity to the SMG round) goes through, as described by someone in SWAT I think, metal (e.g. a car door) like 'a hot knife through butter'. Even for the lower velocity rounds, just think about it, you can dent a car door with a strong kick/punch, a bullet travelling at the speed of sound is going to go straight through it.
  • Yes, a car provides very little protection against bullets. There have been many cases of people who have been shot while inside a car.
