  • What is the pitch of the roof? Is it a Hip roof or a gable roof? When you say "a hip of 3 feet" do you mean "overhang"?
  • A "square" is supposed to cover a hundred square feet. But most people use inverted shinges for a starter row and cut shingles for the caps on the roof peaks. Generally shingles are sold in bundles each bundle is 1/3 of a square ~33 sq ft. For a roof the size you are talking about... two bundles will easily do the starter row and roof peaks. Now for the main roof ... with a 3 ft height and a 7 ft run ((12ft+2ft)/2 is assumed some overhang and wall thickness) and 13 foot width (again overhang) each eve will have just less than 8x13 = 104 sq ft so a total of 208 for both so the total is now 208 plus 66 = 274 suare feet ... so buy 3 square and take back the unused bundle if you don't make any mistakes.
  • you wont need any shingles !
