  • The only way you can truly help a friend who makes a mistake is privately. Doing it in front of others is degrading and rude. I never correct a friend in front of others.
  • Never; at least if I do it's not intentionally. I wouldn't do that in public on purpose. I think it would be both unnecessary and embarrassing.
  • Define mistakes. Because an opinion is not a mistake so why would I feel the need to correct a friend and tell them what's right and wrong?
  • Never. (Friends correct me if I'm wrong :) It would take some serious nerve for me to presume to correct any of them as if I was any kind of authority!
  • "Help"? Never. I believe that is very rude if what you are talking about is spelling or use of a word. Now if a question is unclear I think asking for clarification or elaboration or restating is fine...I don't want to respond to a question that was not asked. But if someone says "you're" and it should be "your" I certainly am not going to point that out. I am not the Spelling Police, or the Definition Police or the Syntax Police or the Usage Police. I am an AB member just like everyone else and I do not think I'm "better" than someone simply because I have a facility for word usage. We each have our strengths and weaknesses so it all boils down to this..we're all even with one another and no one gets to be "boss"!
