I lived in Oklahome for 11 years....and I have seen too many tornados in my time. so many in fact, for a while there, I was desensitized from the fear of them.
-
I once saw three during a hurricane.
-
yes, I do.

Almost positive there has never been one here.
-
I remember three.

As far as tornadoes go, I seem to live in a place that they don't like to go. They always go about 10 miles north of town or 10 miles south, but never through. We get wind, sure , but not as much destruction.

A small one went through my grandparents' backyard when I was little. I remember sleeping in their basement through most of it.

Yes. In the town where I currently live, there was a small tornado nine years ago. It only hit one person, and that person happened to be my teacher's aide. He was scheduled to give a talk on Veteran's Day for the VFW. When he arrived, the National Guard were setting up a tent for the event. It wasn't staked down properly yet, and they were scrambling to get it down in the face of a rising wind and storm. Just as my aide pulled up to the tent, a small twister picked it up, wrapped it around his truck, picked the tent and the truck with him in it off the ground and spun it around several times and dropped it. It was gone as quickly as it had come, but every single panel of his truck was damaged. It was still drivable, but it was totaled, as the damage was greater than the value of the truck. He drove it that way for several years, as he couldn't get another truck for what it was worth and he chose not to total it out. I also remember one that hit the boundary of our farm when I was a teenager. It went down our road like a skipping stone, hitting several farms and going back up for a mile or two before touching down again. It hit a farm up the road, flattening a playhouse that had just been completed that week, sucking bricks out of one end of the house and pushing in barn doors across the road from the house. Next it hit the home of my high school Biology teacher, taking out all the trees around the house but sparing the house, next it hit a friend's place and took all the trees around that house and left the house, then it tore down our boundary fence and took out all the trees around our neighbor's house and left the house. The whole time, we were standing in the doorway of our basement house, a bunker of a root celler at our disposal and wondering what that sound was as there were no trains within 20 miles and we couldn't see it in the dark. I also remember a small twister going through my step-grandmother's woodlot up in Pennsylvania and twisting the tops out of a bunch of trees.

yrs ago in my little town in Montana we had a HUGE tornado and it took down huge 100 yr old trees! I had no idea it was a tornado either. I was just watching it happen and it didn't hit me until it was almost over what I had witnessed. It happened so fast!!!! A matter of seconds and it was over with. Thank goodness it was about 1/4 mile from me. Massive son of a gun! Strange weather! +5

Not any that actually went through our town, but I have witnessed 3 tornadoes pass close to my town in the last 26 years.

Oh yea. Growing up in West Texas, that was pretty normal. When a storm would start coming up (especially at night), my Mom and Dad would take us kids and we'd all go to the cellar and spend the night (wasn't bad, had 2 full size beds, 2 rockers (for the parents), food, something to drink, kept games down there and a radio. They were prepared). Get up the next morning and go see what damage was done. As an adult, watched out my sons bedroom window one night (lived in country) and as a tornado went through our front yard.

We don't have any tornadoes where we live

Yes! One in the next city to me! It appeared as if it was going right down my street! I was really young and not very smart. i stood in the doorway watching instead of hiding under cover! (Can you believe that) It did a lot of damage!
