Tommy (the album) is the best, but I really hated the movie! The songs were meant to leave some things unanswered, left for the audience to speculate, but the movie fills in the gaps.

Yes, I was a bit upset at how they tried to fill in the gaps left in 1921, they could very easily have taken the minimalist approach and left it just as mysterious as the album was.
