Are the Staff and CL's a little sensitive about questions that are critical of them/AB?

Not normally. Remember that it takes the CLs and/or other members to flag the questions, and staff to accept those flags. So, it's always possible another user didn't like the question, and staff agreed that it crossed the line from criticism to bashing.
