i'm sure a person like this , would be educated enough in the art of meditation . to know how to ground , center , and sheild themselves enough to relax . they would know this in advance and expect it . so ,,, difficult ? not really . it may take longer though .

I'm not too sure about any direct correlation between intelligence and the ability to quiet the ol' 'internal dialogue'. ;-)

like being smart is a detriment to discovering the truth? it would seem like someone with a high IQ would be able to see through the illusion of this world.... in Meditation we go beyond the theories and beliefs, we go beyond the physical world... sometimes, but not always the higher IQ will be totally engrossed in world knowledge and holds on very tight to this knowledge, and cannot see anything beyond their frame of reference. And in meditation we leave our frame of reference behind... All knowledge is there and ready to be tapped into, but we don't want to carry it as baggage. So can the mind be calmed into it's quiet reflecting, pure state of energy, or is it full of facts and figures that are always present. i think the answer lies with how much spirituality has been experienced, so it depends...

A high IQ simply means your mind is able to solve a problem. I have found many people with ADHD have very high IQ scores. I have ADHD and my IQ score was 147. Im very smart, can do anything I put my mind to. And my mind is always thinking, and most of the time about several things at once. Thats what makes it UBER difficult to focus on one thing. Also why its hard for ADHD people have hard times in a classroom.

I found for myself that calming the mind that is overactive is a discipline that once learned, is invaluable. I am not sure that we can assume everyone with a high IQ has an excessively active mind... they probably have a curious mind, which is always active, but I think that intelligence lends itself to understanding how to control inner urges, passions, desires. Of course, not everyone who has a high IQ is self aware. Some truly genius people are savant - and really lack a grasp of themselves. I have a niece who is like that - high IQ but has Aspergers Syndrome and can barely hold a conversation except with her family.

I do not think that is the cause. I think nervousness and restlessness cause the mind to wander out of control. I think many people with high IQ's have the capacity to understand the value of meditation and also that meditation increases the power of the mind. Many people give up because they have no understanding of the benefits both physically, spiritually and mentally of this most important activity.

Based upon myself, I would say that is true. One of the things on my "to do" list is to try Yoga.

I've been tested pretty high and I can hardly fall asleep due to all the crap that runs through my head at an extremely rapid rate. It's no fun at all :-[
