I don't know about 4, but 13 has been considered lucky in Europe for a long time. There are various theories: 12 apostles +Christ, 13 witches in a coven etc but the truth is that no one knows really. Lucky and unlucky numbers differ from culture to culture, and, if you went across the world you would find eventually that all numbers have some significance to someone. It is part of the human mind trying to make order from chaos, and attempting to control the forces which surround it and threaten its safety.

I've never heard of the number 4 being unlucky, as a matter of fact, number 4 is very lucky for me.

ive never heard of either one being unlucky. and i always thought 13 was a lucky number. i hear people say "lucky number 13" sometimes.

Four is a lovely number: the 4 seasons, the 4 directions, the 4 stages in life, etc.

I didn't know 4 was supposed to be unlucky. I don't know why people consider 13 to be unlucky, but my grandmother always considered Friday the 13th to be her lucky day bacause she was born on Friday the 13th.
