I just had an abdominal hysterectomy, and I am wondering if others who had this procedure dealt with the aftereffects: pain, emotional. If this doesn't add the cherry to the cake: in the same week as my surgery my boyfriend broke up with me. HELP

  Aside from pain meds, what other ways can the pain and discomfort of a hysterectomy be eased? I had one just over 3 years ago, but I have a higher tolerance for pain than my s/o does. She just had surgery 5 days ago.
