Screws. Nails will have the tendancy to "pop" up or work themselves out over time.

nail the perimeter of the board....especially around the corners....screw the "field". Much faster and easier.

Nailing is cheaper an faster, but use the right hammer. The striking face has to be curved or balled. Use the nails recommended from the sheetrock manufacturer. When using srews, use a specially made electrical screw driver, called a screw gun. This will set automaticly the screws to the right depht and will not brake the paper. I used booth ways and had no problems with either of them. P.s. When using steel studs, always use the screw method.

I switched from nails to screws several years ago. It may take a little more time to install the drywall, but I have not had one screw pop out yet. Well worth the little extra time.
