They should be able to choose.

Liberty to follow a religion or not follow one at all IMHO. My parents let me decide what I wanted to follow (to borrow your phrase). I appreciated that.

To choose, i hate parents that force religion on there kids!!!

This is america and freedom of religion is guraranteed by the constitution. Following the parents religion is like choosing a partner for their child to marry. Its not going to happen. Fortunately, most children do follow the religion of their parents. i base this answer strictly on the personal observations of my own children.

That's why they have their own brains, isn't it?

Yes. Children should follow the religion of their parents. If everyone had have done this in the first place then we would not have gotten all this division we have these days. However, given there is so much division, when a child is old enough they should feel free to question what they have been taught and seek the truth.

Everyone should have the right to choose. No one should be forced to pretend to believe something that they do not believe. It is a violation of basic human rights.
-
Ultimately you follow what you choose to believe.

You should not only have the right to choose, but your exploration should be encouraged. What you believe is a very personal matter and although we take the influence of our parents, the ultimate choice is ours.
