Although we correlate the Superman/Clark Kent transformation with the telephone booth, there is really very little backing in the Superman universe to substantiate this. He doesn't use a phone booth in a single episode of "Superman: The Animated Series" or in "The Adventures of Superman" TV series. Superman will continue on, using other uncomfortable places to change.

I thought he changed privately anywhere, at least he did in the old cartoon.

Funny question +3...since he's faster than a speeding bullet, I suppose he can just strip and change right in front of you and wouldn't even know it. Just like in the pre-movie advertising at drivein theatres, a second of popcorn and you didn't even see it flick by you suddenly crave popcorn.....hmmm, maybe superman shouldn't change in front of you then!

This was already resolved humorously in the very first Superman movie. Kent ran up to a "phone booth" which was just a pay phone on a pole. So he just spun around really fast and voila! he changed in the "blur."
