Like why are they becoming more popular? They hot! :p Vampires are sexy!! :D There's something about them that draws people (girls, mainly) to them, myself included. You know how girls are supposed to like the "bad boy"...well...vampires are like the ultimate bad. They're very sexual and the idea of living forever draws people to that b/c so many of us wish we could live longer and often wonder what it would be like to live forever like they do. So that part attracts others because when watching a movie or reading a book that includes them, it's easy to put ourselves in their position. In their lives. It's like an escape for the audience...to be someone else for a little while and give in to what we know is wrong. It's fake, but it feels real for that moment we're watching or caught up in a book. For those moments, whether it be a few minutes reading a couple pages to a few hours watching a movie, it's our little escape from our real lives full of real stresses. Our escape where we can give in to sex and lust without the possibilities of diseases, our escape where we can live forever (as long as those iron stakes aren't in the picture :p ) worry free of illness and physical pain, and just ... free. People are drawn to what we can't have and can't be. With the way the world is now and everything seeming to fail, it makes sense for more and more people to want that kind of life. We don't think about the bad parts though as we've got enough to deal with in our real lives, so we only concentrate on the good to make ourselves feel better ... for that moment. Something along those lines :]
