  • I wouldnt recommend that . I would probably use a canola oil, or a peanut oil.
  • Olive oil has a bit of a heaviness and flavor. I would not do it. Plus, Olive Oil is costly, don't waste it. If you have some shortening, melt it down and try that instead.
  • if olive oil is all you have, you could try it. I would not do it if it is not the light olive oil. Virgin olive oil & extra virgin will add olive flavour to your brownies.
  • Absolutely. We use olive oil and no other oil or marg/butter in our cooking. It works with pastry, sauces etc. So healthy but mind it is still fattening. It is certainly, health wise, worth the little extra cost.
  • If health is the issue, replace the vegetable oil with apple sauce.
  • You can, but it will add a slight flavor to the brownies, and may shorten the cooking time slightly. Be sure to check them a few minutes early so as not to burn the edges. Changing oils/fats tends often to change cooking times and flavors, and often texture if you are changing from a solid at room temperature to a liquid or vice versa. Go ahead an experiment though.
  • Unless you really LOVE the flavor of olive oil I wouldn't do it. It's so overpowering in flavor.
  • Yes you can! However they won't take as long to cook or they will be slightly crunchy. I don't see why everyone is saying it changes the flavor. I use it all the time and DOESN'T change the flavor at all!!! These ppl should try it instead of just assuming first
  • Yes, but use a light olive oil (flavor not as strong) instead of the fruitier extra virgin.
