  • There is no cost to scrap a car. When you take a car to a scrap yard, you are "paid" for the value of the various parts and scrap metal contained in the vehicle in the form of a total that can be deducted from your taxes at the end of the year. Some facilities may charge to scrap a car, but there should ultimately be no cost to you. Source is a UK site. Changed the source, though, to be fair - "Scrapping a Car" seems to be a UK term. • the majority of places make you put your car on scales where it is then weighed and you are given a certain amout per pound - cation should be taken because some of the scales are not calibrated correctly and a false weight will be given.
