Why is my powermac g4 400mhz (with 512mb RAM) faster than my iBook g3 600mhz (with 128mb RAM)?

Because Your Powermac has more RAM, it can handle more jobs at the same time.

The G4 is a faster chip than the G3. The G4 uses what is called the velocity engine which gives it a speed boost, by adding more memory to your G3 iBook it will make it faster but the G4 will allways be faster because it uses a faster computer chip.
