I blame individualism for making us think that what a person thinks of himself is all that matters.
-
I don't think it has.
-
It probably has lost some of its stigma in the past couple of years, with the economy in such bad shape. Many people who would not normally ask for help now need to.
-
Because a hell of a lot more people are on it and the economy sucks. They understand most are just trying to eat.

It's amazing how the compassion starts to flow when the problem reaches our own doors, eh?

Political Correctness. In terms of denial of reality this movement is as destructive as religion or heroin.

I don't think it has, I think more people are having to get on it. mean while the ones on it already are staying on it..

So many on it and the liberal school of thought that there is no shame in anything.

Because all the jobs are going fare well
-
Because we've become so goddam poor that we need it now. Between the elderly, the unemployed, the underemployed, the homeless and the uninsured, that should make more than 1/2 of the population of the US. Pitiful ain't it?

It hasn't! Try being one of those who has to get on it, and you'll see just how much is HASN'T changed. You will feel like total crap. Embarrassed. Given sidelong glances by those who know you're on it. Your family will stumble over their words when discusiing it, if they'll even discuss it at all. Try standing in a food line at a local church and tell me you don't feel like an utter loser. Then come to AB and listen to everybody's anger and righteous indignation that their tax dollars are "wasted" on the likes of you. You're lazy. You don't want to work. You expect a handout. You won't get off the couch and go to work. You want everything handed to you. Nope, it hasn't changed a bit. However, it has lessened, since many of those people are now on it. +5
