Because admitting that they have doubts will weaken their belief and/or displease God. They'd rather not question it.
-
Any intelligent and reasonable Christian will tell you that it's not about being a verifiable fact, but that it's a matter of faith.
-
Faith and irrationality and stubborness seem to go hand in hand. When someone is rational, they can admit when something is wrong. Similar to how scientists change their theories if new evidence arises, even if they were adamant about their original theory. With religion, there is no new evidence, it has been the same since it was created.
-
that is why faith was invented to explain anything Christians dont know or understand. they say christianity is a faith based religion. it is so faith based, the devine name doesnt really matter because they think the word God is sufficient.
-
When someone truly believes in something...anything... in their minds it is as real and true as the wind blowing through your hair. Some people do not 'need' to see something to believe in it, others want tangible proof. Besides, I don't think they are supposed to doubt God or question God.
-
I have no problem admitting that God exists. I know he does. It is just that some people refuse to accept my evidence and I refuse to try and change their mind.
-
The only one that is having a hard time is you, believing them. If you don't believe, it is really hard to get that kind of truth from another person. That path is for your heart and mind to tread.

Since i seen some of your other questions i think its safe to say this one is another loaded question but whatev right . I do not doubt there is a God or Heaven so im sorry you seem to think Christians do . Now you may ask how do i know ? Well it is by faith i know and some things that have happened to me and my family . Now you can say Faith isint proof and you could say that whatever happened in my family was chance not God .But what you say dont matter to me (no offence ) but what God says and what his word says does i could tell you every detail of my faith and my prayers and what happened that answered those prayers and you would just make light of it . So i challenge you to put away the jokes and the nay sayers and try God on your own , honestly seek him with a true heart and see what happens . I do however wonder if your seeking to just make fun of us Christians or maybe the Holy Spirit is tugging at your heart .Laugh if you want but may God bless you

When you choose to question everything you will be let down sometimes. Some answers cannot and will not be answered at the time you ask them. Some things are answered over time and with experience and knowledge.
-
Because, they DO know. They have believed that God exists so strongly that they KNOW he does. It's kind of hard to explain. But when you are a die-hard Christian, you know.

This is probably not the best analogy that can be used, but it's the first thing that came to mind. When you sit down in a chair...how do you know that it will hold you? You might say, "Because I've sat in it before and I know it will. I can SEE it...it's a CHAIR." But consider...you don't REALLY know, because today, one of the legs to that chair might have become weakened, a screw could be loose, etc. But your own PERSONAL EXPERIENCE tells you that the chair will hold you. Particularly if you're well-acquainted with that chair and have sat there a lot, it would be hard for someone to convince you that the chair might not hold you. UNLESS they have very persuasive evidence that is more powerful than your own personal experience is TO YOU. Frankly...it's pretty hard to convince someone that has had a strong personal experience that you're right and they're wrong (on ANY topic) EVEN if you have facts that YOU feel are irrefutable. Think about the last conversation you had with a younger sibling, or if you're a parent, your teen, about something that you've experienced that they have not experienced the same way (yet). And THIS is why...I don't bother with these kinds of discussions. :) It's hard to get EITHER side of the discussion to "get" where the other side is coming from. Incidentally, this conversation seems to be one I always end up getting sucked into mediating, because I can see clear points on BOTH sides. But these conversations are usually pretty fruitless for both parties.

That would shatter their fantasy and force them to face reality and there's nothing that scares them more than that!

It's all part of Believing. If you just say "Well, ya know, I don't know about this. I just go to church every Sunday cause I'm supposed to, etc etc", then it isn't very Christian at all. It's not uncommon to go to Sunday mass and hear the preacher speaking about why it is so important to believe without seeing - to know without knowing.
-
We cannot expect the Godless to understand matters of FAITH.
-
Why do you care? Believe what you want and leave them to believe what they want.
-
i don't ...at all...and frankly ,have never met one that did....
-
Because they been brain washed to believe and they are frighten sheeple
-
Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen
-
Why do non-Christians have such a hard time admitting that that there are different ways of "knowing?"
-
I don't have a such of hard time knowing if there is a God... I know there is a God, I talk to Him everyday through prayers, I feel His spirit upon me as He guides my life in a positive way. I haven't seen heaven yet because I'm still living in this earth and no one has seen God, but His son only. John 1:18 No one has ever seen God. God's only Son, the one who is closest to the Father's heart, has made him known. God is spirit and light, not darkness. Revelations 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God, and the books were opened and another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Meaning, we are all going to see God in Judgement Day. Revelations 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelations 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away.

Hey, what a great way to start a debate, congrats .. lol +5 I do know there is a God and a heaven for those who choose to follow him. And i REALLY DO know that my friend. I can not convince anyone who is not a christian that there really is a God because it is only God himself that can speak to the person and get through to them :) I can help them on their search though and send them in the right direction.

If you look at societies throughout history, everyone has had some type of religion. The Native Americans, ancient Egyptians, ancient Greeks and Romans, Hebrews, Muslims, Voo Doo, etc. There are some things that you will find in all of these. They have a God or Gods or some higher level being that has power over them, their religion lays the groundwork for the moral structure of that society (i.e. 10 commandments for Christians), it is used to explain things that people don't understand (Hercules took the sun across the sky, God created the earth, etc.) and all religions explain what happens to you when you die. Which one is right? What makes one more right than another? I honestly don't know.
-
Most seem to think that admitting they don't know, will open themselves up to actual rational thought. And as we all know, thought is the antithesis of ignorance...aka faith.

When you walk out to your car in the morning do you KNOW that it will start? Do you stop and look at it and wonder "Gee, I hope it starts." No you don't. Because you have "faith" that it will. Do you know or have faith (believe) that the light will come on when you flip the switch? Do you know or believe that you will shower with hot water? Do you know or believe that the DVD will play when you press play? Do you know or believe that there is a God in heaven? Christians believe that there is a God in heaven. There is a difference between knowing and believing or having faith. There is also another option. When you drop the hook in the water do you know or believe that you will catch a fish? No. You "hope" that you will catch a fish. The story about Jesus arranging a catch that almost sank the fishermans boat was because Jesus had faith/believed that God would cause the catch. He didn't have to hope. This is what the apstle Paul ment when he wrote in Hebrews that(paraphrasing) faith gives substance to the things that we hope for. Faith takes hope to another level. Knowing elimnates the need for faith. Your children know that they will be fed because they have faith in you as their source. Christians have faith that God is their source. This isn't as easy as flipping a switch-you need to think about it. Here's another one. When you go to the McDonalds drive thru do you just take the bag with out checking or do you have faith in the...OK I'll give you that one.
-
I do know. lol. I cant give you proof, cuz lifes a test of faith, but that doesnt mean I dont know, or im confused or torn wondering if there is or there isnt. Ive seen enough to know.
-
It is kinda semantics - but a christian can honestly say they "believe" or "hope" or "have faith that..." or even "are sure that..." but they can't really use the word "know" in a similar way to how it is used in everyday language...
-
Because....God makes himself real to them ...so....they know that they know...HE LIVES!!
-
Because it would be contrary to what they believe on faith...duh!
-
Nobody knows if there's a Heaven or a Hell, but a Christian knows there is a God that blesses their lives in many great ways that a non-believer would have a hard time understanding. The best thing Christians can do is to prepare themselves "just incase" there is a Heaven that will be waiting for them some time!

Does your mother love you? I could ask, "Why do you have such a hard time admitting that you REALLY don't know if your mother loves you?" but I won't. I know that you have faith that your mother loves you and if that faith is enough for you then it is enough for me. If you think about it, there is more proof that God exists that there is that any of the following exist: • Love • Friendship • Patriotism • Duty • Community • Fidelity • Courage • And the like You know they are there, but can you prove it? With love in Christ.
