  • In brief, blueprints are the architectural plans or drawings, usually of houses but also used for buildings as well. They are also usually used as white lines on a blue background, though I have seem them the other way around, and even with black lines on a white background.   • The term blueprinting came from an older process where copies of a house or building plan could be made cheaply and easily. The process was invented in the late 1800's long before photocopying and cheap offset printing became common. The original plan was drawn on translucent paper and then through a chemical process the drawings were transferred on to the copy. The chemical process happened to make the image blue on the paper, thus the name "blueprint".
  • But... These days, 'Blueprints' (also reffered to as 'Plans') aren't so blue. These days we have 'Plotters' which uses the same printing process as your regular 100$ printer. So now you have a 'Whiteprint'
