  • I never was, they look ridiculous.
  • What article? I got one a few months ago and I love it. I would love to see whatever article your talking about. It sounds negative and I'ld like to see what I might be in for. :(
  • I see you've posted a link to an article now. I have seen videos of Smart cars being tipped on Facebook. I think it is a sad statement about our society and not a negative for the car. When i was a kid people did similar stunts with VW bugs, but they were not as destructive. People would turn them sideways and move them onto sidewalks. These were funny pranks, not vandalism. It didn't change the fact that the bugs were a great car and Smarts are great cars also for what they are. They do a great job at moving one or two people for short or long distance travel with less fuel than a standard size car. it is a second car for my family of five and suits our needs quite well.
  • I never even thought to buy a Smart, I drove it once, it's like you're driving a can. I'm not surprised that Mercedes lost so much profit on Smart project, too expensive for a car which has only few 'space' advantages like: you can park vertically :).
  • They may be portrayed safe in an accident and not crumple up.The only problem with a car without a crumple zone is that all the inpact goes through the driver and they suffer bad whiplash.I was in Germany when their sales team were touring the showrooms before the launch. They all stayed at my hotel in the Saarland. One night I had a sit in one, and I was not impressed. The problem is that the manufacture has given people who drive them a false sense of security. Just to be fair to the Smart car take a look at this test film. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju6t-yyoU8s
  • That would have no impact whatsoever on my decision! It is great to see vehicles like this instead of huge, lumbering, ugly SUV's! How many thousand pounds of vehicle does it take to move one or two people (much of the time)?
  • h, NO, I'll stay with with my Foreign Sports car and my Land Rover Thanks anyway! lol +5 E
  • i never even thought about buying a smart car.+5
  • I would never buy a car this small. I am 6 ft. 5 and weigh 245 pounds. I weigh more than the car. Sorry, i will pass and keep my Toyota Solara.
  • If I could afford it, this article would have no effect on me buying one. =)
  • I'm 6'8. No way I could drive this thing. And they look like they'd flip end-over-end if you hit a rock on the road.
