If you don't have a HDTV, and don't care about the special features over a DVD, you shouldn't bother getting a BR player.
If you do have a HDTV, the difference is noticeable. For me, though, DVD's video quality is fine. I couldn't care any less about the special features on Blu-Ray.
Can a Blu-ray be played on a regular DVD player?
