A monologue is a section of a play in which only one actor speaks.
An example is Emily's speech from "Our Town" which contains the famous lines "Goodbye to clocks ticking ... and the sycamore tree ...." toward the end of the play when she has come back to Earth from heaven. Another is either of the summations from the lawyers in "Inherit the Wind" or Atticus' summation in "To Kill a Mockingbird."
I have a serious problem. Whenever I'm acting, I have a tendency to grin semi-unconsciously. How do I stop it?
