If I hit a dog, deer, or any other small animals on the road, do I have to call the police? Or do I just drive away? Would it be considered hit and run?

In NY if you hit a dog you must report it. Same thing with a deer or a beer or moose. Cat or other wild animals you dont have to. It varies from location to location, but that is NYState.

If there was damage to your car, it is smart to call the cops because you have a reliable witness when you file a damage claim for insurance purposes. otherwise, scoop it up and cook it up! Unless it is a dog or cat, of course.

in the UK if you hit a pig, cow, sheep, horse, ass,mule, dog, goat you have to report to police. I think your police force will have a similar list so you will have to find out
