  • I watched parts of it. I thought the post-war industrial boom stats were good because globe was decreasing. I'm beginning to think it's not our fault, and that perhaps global warming is out of our control. The ducumentary changed the way I think about global warming.
  • I am not doubting that we have damaged the planet, and we need to do something about it, including cut down on the C)2 etc BUT, as I have read history, I found that England had malaria in the late middle ages, because it was so warm there. Do we really know enough about temperature change when we have only recently been able to measure and record it? I didn't see the show coz I am in Australia, but I would like to. Not that I would change my recycling etc but I like to see what other theories are around.
  • Yes, I watched it. It was *very* interesting and inspired me to read more on the subject.
  • I live in AUstralia so I have had no chance to watch it here yet- but I can tell you: Global warming is a real concern and don't let any "scientists" hired by lage corporations with vested interest such as oil companies mislead you! It is a hoax to win more time. Just like what happened with the tobacco scare years ago: so-called 'scientists were hired by tobacco companies to confuse people about the issue. "Tobacco is not addictive, tobacco does not cause cancer, ther is no real proof" etc! Remember? The exact same thing happens now about global warming. Please be aware of this and don't believe scientists who are funded by people who need to mislead people to make a buck (or pound). Edited: In the meantime I have done some research and came across much negative information about Martin Durkin, the maker of this program. He seems to have a track record of bad science and misinterpretation of scientific facts. Did you know that in 2000 he produced a program claiming that silicon breasts implants reduce the risk of breast cancer? Research showed that his claims were false. He constantly misreads facts of scientists and was, by the Independent Television Complaints Commission, found to distort information. Shame on Channel 4 for broadcasting such rubbish. I want to add this link because it doesn't seem to work when I put it in my comment below: "Sun Blamed for Warming of Earth and Other Worlds" http://www.livescience.com/environment/070312_solarsys_warming.html I hope it works, otherwise try pasting.

  • The Global Warming thing has always reminded me of a cross between two stories." Chicken Little", and "The Emperor's New Clothes". In CL, the main character, Chicken Little (aka Al Gore) is struck by what CL determines to be evidence that the sky is falling. In TENC, the King (World leaders) is buffaloed by two tailors (again Al Gore, and his bevy of "scientists") who make the king a new suit of invisible material (aka nothing). The king and all the townspeople marvel at how beautiful the "suit" is, after having been declared that whoever cannot see the beauty of the king's new clothes IS NOT WORTHY OF HIS POST in the kingdom... The RUB: Al and friends run around declaring to all that evidence has hit them that the "climate is warming", and that any world leaders, or real scientists and meteorological professionals that cannot see how terrible and catastrophic this is going to be, are not worthy of their post in the world. But Alas, the tailors were undone by a small child who proclaimed "The king is wearing no clothes". The "small child" in this case is the scientific community who don't have their heads stuck up Al Gore's a**. Meteorologists have already been fired for calling "Global Warming" a bunch of hooey. The only hot air going around is Al Gore...........
  • I am watching this video for the third time, it is credible as the BBC documentary's are renowned for their unbiased journalism. I think anyone interested in the effects of global warming, both political and enviromental should watch this video. Nevets was kind enough to post the video in his A, I suggest anyone interested in the matter view it. It is "the" most scientificly based review of the report I have yet seen as it omits and ostrasizes the "anti-scientists who fabricated the global warming myth". I give it a big thumbs up. ***** NOTE; I understand their is much debate to be discussed over the opinions of this specific matter, I have invited a few of the Doctors, Scientists, Professors, and other contributors credited on the film, and I invite their colleages as well, to comment on their open letters, their take on the film, and their professional opinions on subject of Global Warming. They were not easy to track down, but I think I sent email invitations to the ones credited in the film. It is my hope that they accept this humble invitation in an attempt to enlighten our forum. Open invitation list of those who contributed to the film and colleages of the scientific community; Dr. Ross McKitrick http://www.fraserinstitute.ca/shared/author.asp?id=285 Dr. Chris Landsea http://www.lavoisier.com.au/papers/articles/landsea.html Hans H.J. Labohm http://www.tcsdaily.com/Authors.aspx?id=199 Dr. William Gray http://hurricane.atmos.colostate.edu/Forecasts/ Prof. Tim Patterson http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Tim_Patterson I think these distinguished gentlemen deserve the opportunity to add their comments or responses to this forum, so as not to offend or disgrace the good name of the Sciences by the admittance of Anti-Science into our forums. If the line is to be drawn in the sand, it will be drawn here on this subject. Thank you. --------------------------------- UPDATE; March 18, 2007 I have recieved emails from most of the gentlemen above, Mr. Patterson and others are busy during this season because many of them have a very large work load, as many are professors or instructors with various universitys or similar organizations. However Mr. Patterson stated that perhaps he may be able to log on to AB in late May to read our reviews of the film. Mr. Labohm was kind enough however to send me a recent research paper that he has written and I can email a copy of his current paper for anyone to review, my emails in my profile. Below is the email response I recieved from Mr. Labohm, and his recommendations for review of related material. Thank you Mr. Labohm. -------------------------------- Thanks for your e-mail. The documentary has not been produced for the BBC, but for Channel 4, which is not affiliated to the BBC. While the BBC reporting on the climate issue is usually biased (cherry-picking, spindoctoring and scare-mongering - just like Al Gore's movie, the Stern Report and even the IPCC) the Channel 4 documentary presents a fair picture of the views of many climate sceptics. The producer, Martin Durkin, told me that this book served as his 'bible' for making the film. http://www.multi-science.co.uk/man-made.htm For more information about me and my views on climate change and other issues, see: http://www.tcsdaily.com/Authors.aspx?id=199 Best, Hans H.J. • I feel justified. I have been reading books and articles on climate change since 1984 and no well constructed model points to man made warming. it is nice to know the BBC is willing to throw down the gauntlet.
  • I have never bought into the Global Warming phenomenon. I am glad that you posted this video nevets. People need to know that not everyone believes this theory. Have you ever read the book by Michael Crichton called State of Fear? If you haven't you should. It's fiction but it brings out some very interesting points. He also has some interesting things to say about the "science" of eugenics. You can find that on his Web site.
  • Without yet having viewed the entire video, I've read an online precis of this show's premise. I've been reading stuff like this for 20 years; it is in the realm of holocaust denial, UFO belief, Moon hoax conspiracy theory... While keeping a properly sceptical approach to all scientific theories, we should also pay heed to scientists whose lifetimes of painstaking research, peer review and consensus cannot really be gainsaid by a TV show.
  • Before everyone gives the BBC a Nobel Prize for running this, please look into what the climate scientists have to say in response: http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/03/swindled/ I personally spotted about 5 scientific errors in the program in the first 1/2 hour. I think they're all covered at the web site.
  • No, I was questioning the claims by Al Gore and others because they seemed to dismiss the greater quantity of water vapor (95% of greenhouse gases) in the atmosphere. I have been more concerned about increased volcanic activity causing global cooling due to dust and damage to forests due to acid rain. The tree buggers have just won a Supreme Court decision which may force the EPA to put limits on CO2 emissions in vehicle exhaust gases. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17911853/ If the solution to CO2 emissions in automobiles is the Hydrogen fuel cell powered electric vehicle, I fear the next revelation will be that fuel cells produce massive amounts of greenhouse gases, water vapor pollution. Don't exhale folks, you may be next.
  • Great documentary on global climate change. Heres the video. It is broken down into really easy to load clips also. Enjoy (-:
  • There is a lot going for what they claim but you need to remember that the media is only after sensation in order to make lots of money. They sensationalised greenhouse gas emmisions and their effect and now they are looking for another angle. You cannot trust them but neither can you trust the politicians because they are vote attracting and the scientists are in danger of saying what their sponsors want ot hear. Therefore we are all subject to propaganda from all quarters that we do not know what is the real truth.
  • I'm definitely leaning with the non-human causes for global warming. We had global cooling in the 20th century....We've had climatic changes & fluctuations over the eons before humans or animals walked the earth. Also our efforts re global warming (even if true) would be inconsequential - due to pollutions generated in China, India , etc. If we quit using all forms of energy tomorrow, no cars, factories....Co2 level changes would be miniscule.
