  • Saying things like "Oh my god" and "god damn" is part of the common vernacular whether we like it or not. I think we all know that when people say this, they are not actually invoking God.
  • What's the big deal about calling on a fairy tale? He obviously doesn't come when called.
  • Using the word 'god' (not capitalized)in a saying is not the same thing as taking the name of "God" in vain. It does not refer to any being - but should be spelled more like 'gawd'. We could be referring to any or none of the mythical gods,, such as Thor, Ra, or such. Taking the name "God" in vain is like when a preacher says a hurricane is God's punishment. That is taking the name in vain.
