  • Not at all. Who says that men are the only ones that cheat?
  • umm, no. People who are happy sharring can find ways around the law and usally do. Even though someone eles is okay being the "other one", does not mean they want to share. Most either A)have dreams of their lover leaving the spouse or B) don't want to be in a relationship. Neither one of these suggest a deisre to be shared.
  • Yes, polygamy allows both men and women to have multiple spouses. Polygamy is natural for some people. That's why there are so many affairs.
  • Seems to work well for the Mormons
  • Probably.
  • Yes. Some people are born to be in polygamous relationships, but our society tries to force fit them into monogamous relationships. Affairs are often the result of this. If polygamy were legalized and socially accepted, it would reduce this problem.
  • NOPE. Give a mouse a cookie it will ask for a glass of milk.
  • Logically, but the "spiritual marriages" are already there and look at the mess. +4
  • I would guess so but only if the husband/wife is ok with the other having multiple partners.
  • Sure, all women are just going to jump on that one, because there are so many great rewards for them. Men too? That will be the day. Picture a woman with a lot of husbands. The egos have landed.
  • No. The reason people remain faithful is because they are honoring the agreement. They still feel attracted to other people but are true out of respect. Many people can't resist that spark. Those people would not be faithful even if they had multiple spouses.
  • I don't think so, because for a man who MUST have more than one wife, he is selfish and is probably never satisfied. And in the end, he will have 2 nagging wives that don't put out, and will cheat, as though he had 1 wife.
  • I inclined the believe that the man who has multiple wives is going to get cheated on. or vice versa for a women with multiple husbands.
  • i like this question. i believe that polygamy should be legal but then i do also believe in mutuality. so i would think that mutual polygamy would only work if polygamy had been acceptable for many years.
  • no, they would just be cheating on more than one wife
  • nope it was just legalize cheating.
  • Yes. It's the right thing to do to allow people to live and love whomever they want legally. It would remove the ignorance and prejudice against it.
  • Yes, it would. I don't know why it's not legal in the west. It should be.
  • Many polygamous men are known and almost expected to cheat whether it is to obtain a new wife (the excuse) or not. Polygamy suggests multiple wives. In general, cheaters don't want wives, they want to satisfy urges with someone new.
  • It will never work, To be fair and equal women would naturally have to be allowed multiple husbands if Men were allowed multiple wives, If a husband has multiple wives and one of his wives decided she wanted another husband he would be obligated to allow it in an equal society, The resulting living arrangements would be awkward to say the least with multiple wives and multiple husbands and it would ultimately end up in multiple divorces. What a mess THAT would be! deciding who was wrong and who was right and who gets what! Whew! There's a reason polygamy is illegal! LOL!
  • no but there would be more mormons
  • That's like saying there would be less crime if there were no laws. On the surface, true. In reality, completely false.
  • No, it would just be defined differently
  • Polygmy would not stop affairs but yes it would most likely cause fewer of them. Polygamy is not primarily about sex but about taking care of the home and children as well as additional help for the financial care of the family an home. The women in a polygamus family are the ones who control who sleeps with the husband on whatever schedual they decide on. Most people hear only about polygamy as associated with the LDS church and their forcing of young girls into marrying older men. I do not hold with this form of polygamy either. There is a very large "Christian polygamy" movement where the wives come into the family voluntarily never forced. The wives already associated with the family have a say in if the new wife is to be accepted not just the husband. Polygamy was very accepted by the Hebrews of the Bible any time they ruled themselves. Polygamy was never done away with in the New Testament. While polygamy is the practice of men with multible wives, a family with multible husbands is known as polyandry. The following information will explain monogamy and polygamy much better than I have here... http://www.patriarchywebsite.com/monogamy/mono-history.htm As always knowledge is better then hearsay.
  • Hardly... affairs and adultery happen secretly, because the partner would not approve. That it is legal is not going to magically make people want to share their husbands.
  • Definitely. More love and attention at home usually = fewer affairs. More sex at home usually = less adultery.
  • I don't think couples who are honestly in love with each other would be affected, but making it legal might give a lot of those borderline cases that little push to send them over the line. So I'd say, no- I think there would be more.
  • I would think the wives cheat. He can't possibly be satisfying them all.
  • A Cheater (male or female) will always suffer from the grass is always greener on the other side. Even Polygamist have a set number of wives they would support and if it went the other way, I'm sure it would still be the same. Not all cheaters are dissatified at home, they just can't help but want more. Like a kid in a candy store.
  • A man cant satify one woman never the less others...I feel that woman should have 4 husbands this way they all can go to work and she can service all them properly...Thats the better way to go....Ladies don't you agree, 4 husbands would be fabulous for all of us...
  • no way! even if a guy had 3 wives he'd find someone else to sleep with. people like what they're not supposed to do
  • I live in a country where polygamy is legal (our president has several wives), and I can tell you with absolute confidence it makes no difference. Someone with 7 wives will find an 8th person to cheat with. Go figure.
