Nah. It helps, but art is just what can't be quantified. Is a giant pineapple sitting on top of a building art? To me, yes. Is it thought provoking? To me, no. I still like it though.

it should move you in some way, perhaps by provoking thought, but perhaps it's something quite different, like conveying a profound sense of peace or grace, that is, maybe it's just emotionally moving, and not intellectual moving.

No, but it helps you to sell. Kinda like audio, visual, and print media, esp the news services. Who wants to hear that Eclipse had an ordinary day? Again?

You should produce art for its own sake. If other people like it, that's an added perk.
