  • Halleys comet appears to turn around either just inside or just outside Pluto's orbit (as Plutos orbit is a strange one), because, like Pluto and the other planets/planetoids, it is still being held in place by the sun. http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/comets/halley.html shows its projected orbit for the 2024 pass.
  • The comet reaches an apogee of about 35.3 AU, so 98 million X 35.3 equals the number of miles.
