This reminds me of Family Guy where Brain goes to heaven with all these artists. They all caved under pressure and killed themselves (that is how they got to heaven). And brian just says something funny a dog would do. I forgot exactly but something like "Yeah, I died from eating a baby's diaper. What? I thought it was Indian food."

i dont believe that he cut his ear off on his own, regardless of wat people say. i have been reading a very popular encyclopedia in the library for my school project, and it sayd that he was fighting with this one guy, like a rlly big fight, and in his own anguish he cut off his ear? not likely, even with his unstabile mentability, i believe that the GUY he was fighting with cut off his ear, for they were extremly fighting... i think that van gogh did not tell any1 that the other guy cut off his ear to keep him out of trouble, becuz rememeber, in that time, u did something bad and u got killed... so van gogh was merely protecting the crazy guy that cut off his ear. think about it. WHY would he pik his ear and not a finger? it would be extremly hard to cut off ur own ear... and extremly easy for the other guy to cut off van goghs ear.. i cant explain why he sent it to the prostitute, who was pregnant btw, but im just givn an opinion here so think about it :)

No...But he was part of the reason. Gaugin was a horrible influence on a very mentally ill Van Gogh. They were drinking buddies and Van Gogh was probably in love with him too?
