  • A slam is any unjustified low rating. When someone answers a question that calls for an opinion (no real right or wrong answer) and someone with a different opinion rates it at 50% that's a slam. Many times, slams are more about the rater disliking the answerer than his answer. Of course, the rater usually manages to convince himself the answer's bad. If it truly wrong, it's not a slam - it's a low rating on an incorrect answer. You can see the difference. Slams are petty, tacky and rude. One can argue that slams reveal something about the people involved and so they're useful, but I don't buy it. I just can't believe any of us are better off for having seen our fellow Baggers acting and reacting in anger and pain.
