  • not all venoms react the same in all species... most venoms which could kill a human can kill a house cat in a much smaller dose.... but the australian funnelweb spider can kill humans but only make cats and dogs sick, their venom is specificaly effective against primates
  • Probably by serial dilution. The more potent the venom, the more it can be diluted yet still produce a reaction when injected into a mouse (or whatever). Note that 'potency' refers to how much or how little of a substance is needed. Not to be confused with 'efficacy', which is how well it works.
