The badminton smash is a steep downward angled shot, characterized by high velocity and power. It is one of the most important offensive badminton shots. A well executed smash has a high chance of finishing off the opponent or leave them in a vulnerable state.

The smash is the most aggressive shot in badminton, it is an overhead shot hit hard, steeply downwards, and preferably hit either to a spot out of your opponent's reach, or hit into their body so it is hard to return (the hip on their racket side being a particularly good spot).

Your objective is to either score a winner or get a weak return which sets you up for a winning finishing shot.
