  • Even though I had no reason to believe that it was before, being a child, and trusting in faith and love,I'd have to say that the ACTUAL age this became apparent and quite clear was around age 21 until gradually,23,24 and so on until now(I'm 24,almost 25 years old).I was in denial, and didn't want to believe that things happened like this, only in dark corners of the world, that my Mom loved me(Wrong!)and the true friends exist.I'm still waiting to be proven wrong, but lately,I'm more of a realistic optamist.Does that make sense?*Not until I know the last human on the Earth will I give up believing in humanity.*
  • When I was five I told the garbage man that I had a nickel. He said "you better watch out of I will take it from you!"
  • My parents made me very aware of this before 4 or 5. They were very protective of me.
  • I was attacked by neighborhood boys at about 7 Attacked by a teacher who was a child molestor, and got convicted of it shortly after that and then by a Dog the next year. So about 7

  • Like, four...when I first watched Superman and knew about crazy people trying to take over the world.
  • I was 10 when 2 planes crashed into the twin towers in my city. I will never forget that day as long as I live. +3
  • I grew up in a tough neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City.....so I was very young. I don't remember at what age but it was well before I hit 8 years old, maybe 5.
  • 4 yrs.
  • Age six. I was abused.
  • It was gradual for me. I was very naive as a child. My mother was SO incredibly abusive that, to me, everyone else looked safe by comparison. And wanting attention from someone.....anyone.....I would approach pretty much anybody. By the time I was in my mid 20's I knew that the world could indeed be a dark place, but even now, at 44, I am still learning just how black that darkness can get. A few days ago, someone sent me a video of people who skinned animals alive. I never knew people could be that cruel. +5

  • in the womb, when my mother fed me drugs through the umbilical cord
  • It ain't?! [Ah, sh*t!] ;-)
  • Four, at most. It just sort of dawned on me.
  • When I got to junior high (7th grade), at age "almost 12," and there were a few "tough," racy girls that liked to (for all intents and purposes) steal from you by "borrowing" $1.00 whenever they could, and of course never giving it back. They crowded around my best friend and me (we were kind of loners, tho' there were always other kids around, we weren't off alone or anything!) and made us feel scared if we didn't each give them $1, and when they did approach us, it was usually around lunchtime, outside, because they wanted to go buy some food or cigarettes. Back then, $1 went a lot farther than it did now - for example, the $1 lunch deal at the pizza joint across from the school was 2 slices of pizza and a Coke! The place was jam-packed every day at lunch, whether it was warm or cold outside (in the Inwood area of Manhattan, NYC). I was kind of timid and afraid to report these girls - thought I might get attacked if I did. One in particular was a big, husky, "butch" type (we called them that back in the late '60's when I was in junior high!), whom I'm sure could have beaten me up in an instant!...Also, I couldn't believe the condition of the girls' bathrooms - horrible - not only graffiti galore, but also, stopped-up toilets that were stuffed with girls' "feminine" products - deliberately, of course - you see, back then, there were not as many "smaller" products of this type for teen girls; most were very large and bulky (you get my drift). It was so gross - the school couldn't get a handle on it, or else they didn't try. Often, I had to go to a counselor's office just to be able to go to the bathroom - the girls' bathrooms sometimes wound up locked during classes, when the school would run out of options. Yes - once I hit junior high, therein went my belief that the world was a safe place.

  • I'm 16... I still think this is a safe world... Just hope I don't live in a dream... It's just the way you see it that makes the world good or bad...
