Insurance companies pay VERY close attention to accident statistics. If they didn't, they wouldn't stay in business very long. The truth is that inexperienced drivers are riskier than average, and hormones surging through young bodies makes many of them aggressive and prone to 'daring' displays.

Because they get away with charging these amounts without anybody giving out cuz nobody takes the youth seriously.

And the fact that they crash more might shove it up.

  • Because their accident rates are higher. It could be surmised that this is due to lack of experience.

They crash more, coz they are rubbish drivers (on average), so are a higher risk.
Intrestingly, most young drivers think they are way better than average drivers :-)

Based on decades of insurance companies' claim payment data - especially males 16 to 19, more at-fault accidents, more costly accidents, more multi-car accidents more DUI - related accidents.

Because insuring them is a riskier business. The odds they will have an accident or ticket are much hihger.
