  • Factorizing trinomials, like this one, I found the hardest thing there is in math. It really gets easier after that. This one's not so hard though: Each of your terms has a factor of x, so that's the first step: (x)(x^2 + 8x + 15) = 0 To factor the second bracket, you are looking for something like (x + a)(x + b) Because 15 is positive, it tells you that a and b have the same sign. Because 8 is positive it tells you that it is a plus sign. Now you seek factors of 15 which add to 8. 1 and 15 make 16 nope. 3 and 5 make 8. I struck lucky. Put 3 and 5 for a and b. You do the rest.
